Shirley Inspired…

This album came, more or less, from completely out of the blue. In preparation for our Kickstarter campaign a question was yet to be answered: how to push the campaign for a movie about Shirley enough for it to ‘go viral’? There was a good start as the launch party at Cafe OTO in London was booked and there was a great cast of performers confirmed. Onboard, as master of ceremonies, Stewart Lee, who is, according to Shirley, the UK’s most courageous comic. Well, the long and short of it is that it’s down to him, Stuart Estell and an odd evening in Oxford for the spark of the idea. Following the eureka moment we put out a call and only days later, the songs they started flowing in. In total there are 40 pieces – and there were very nearly 60. Testament to the high regard in which Shirley is held by fellow musicians.

And it’s not over yet – more songs, more gigs will be announced in the near future. But for now, if you missed out on ordering it as a Kickstarter reward, the good news is that it’s not too late. You can still pledge here!

Shirley Inspired… is what it says on the tin, and it is a most remarkable viral, musical event. Long may it roll.
